How to Measure

In general, we only need 9 body measurements and your weight to provide you with the perfect individual fit. These 9 measurements can easily be taken with the assistance of a helper. Your weight is mainly for future reference for subsequent orders. If your weight has changed, so have you measurements. In this case, you must re-measure before placing a new order.

Other measurements are considerably more difficult to take due to the lack of natural body measuring points, body imbalances or personal preferences. If you wish to, however, you may add garment measurements to the order sheet. Please note that this option only applies to the MtM orders. To help you make these alterations to your order, you can use your Alsinger Copenhagen RtW size as reference point for subsequent MtM orders. This allows you to super optimize your appearance.

Body Measurements

You will need:

  1. A measuring tape, a book and a helper
  2. To be honest
  3. To stand in your underwear
  4. For circumference measurements, the measuring tape should be close to the body with no finger inside the tape
  5. For length measurements, the measuring tape should be stretched
  6. Avoid common mistakes:
    • Always start measuring from 0
    • Do not turn the measuring tape during the measuring. The unit on the other side is usually different
    • Do not use the body height measure in your passport. It is taken with shoes on
    • Do not count in future weight losses/gains. Use your current measurements

Height

Measure body height without shoes.

Stand upright with your back against a wall. Ask your helper to put a book on your head. Keep it upright and perpendicular to the wall. While your helper holds the book, measure the distance from the floor to the book's bottom edge. It is often easier to use a thumb stick than a tape measure. The measuring tape may be too short.

Neck

Measure is taken across the “Adam’s apple”.

Chest

Measure across the widest part of your chest, which is usually right across the nipples. Make sure that the measuring tape is placed horizontally!

Natural Waist

Measure across the smallest part of your waist which is usually just between the hip and rib bones. Make sure to stand naturally and relaxed! Make sure that the measuring tape is placed horizontally!

Trousers Waist

Measure across your waist four fingers below your navel. Make sure to stand naturally and relaxed and that the measuring tape is placed horizontally!

Hips

Measure around the fullest part of the hips. Make sure that the measuring tape is placed horizontally!

Thighs

Measure around the fullest part of the thigh.

Biceps

Measure around the fullest part of your biceps. Relax the arm.

Wrist

Measure just above the wrist bone by wrapping the measuring tape around it.
